Why stories
Long before textbooks, people taught through stories. The Greeks learned when to plough and how to treat a stranger from Hesiod and Homer. In India, the Panchatantra taught young princes to rule wisely through animal fables. In Mexico, Mixtec painters kept their history in folding picture books that were read aloud. Western Apache families tie their lessons to the land. As one elder put it, “wisdom sits in places.” Families in Australia sang song cycles that doubled as maps. In West Africa, griots carried an empire's law in song.
None of them memorized a lesson. They felt it happen to someone.
School today teaches facts well, but often without the story. And most “personalized” books drop a child's name into a template, read once and forgotten.
We built BespokeTales to bring the old way back, with the lesson you choose inside the plot.
What we believe
Children learn from what they feel
A fact on a worksheet is something to remember. The same fact happening to someone they love is something they keep. So the learning goes inside the story, never after it.
The parent decides
You know your child better than any curriculum does. You choose what they learn and who is in the story. We can suggest, but the choice is always yours.
No pressure, ever
No streaks to protect, no countdowns, no guilt for coming back later. A wrong answer is interesting, not a mistake. A child who stops reading has simply stopped reading.
Safety before everything
We verify a parent before we collect anything about a child, and photos are always optional. Child information is never used to train models, and is not sold or shared for advertising. We show children no advertising, and Kid Mode has no purchase prompts.
How we do business
See the real thing before you pay
Anyone can open the real app as a visitor and read finished books, with no account and no card.
No subscription
You pay once to confirm you’re a parent, and that comes with a first book. After that you buy a book when you want one. Nothing renews.
Parents pay us. Advertisers never do.
No ads, and nothing in the app nudges your child toward something you would have to pay for. Not even our own books.
Invite a family, you both get a book
Share your link. When they join and complete the parent check, a free book lands in both accounts.

We’re a small company in Portland, Oregon. The only people we answer to are the families who use it.
