How each book went

Every storybook's questions one by one: what they chose, what was right first time, and what they solved in the end.

What it is

Every storybook with a workbook gets a page of its own in Progress. At the top are the standard the book was built on, when it has one, and a score line. Once the workbook is finished it carries two numbers: right on the first try, and solved now. Underneath is every question, marked correct on the first try, correct after another go, not correct yet or not answered yet, with the answer they chose, and for any question they missed at first, the right answer and why it is right.

They see their own result on the last page of the book, skill by skill. This page is the fuller one, and it is for you.

What it is for

A score tells you how it went. The questions tell you why. Two wrong answers on the same kind of question is a pattern you can do something about, and you can see it here without sitting beside them while they read. When they take the workbook again, every attempt is kept, so you can watch the first try score move from one to the next.

How to use it

  1. Open Progress and tap a book under By storybook.
  2. Read the score line: right first try, then how many are solved now.
  3. Read down the questions. The ones they missed first are the ones to talk about.
  4. On a finished workbook, tap Practise this again, then Start a fresh attempt, to hand them the same questions again. The earlier attempt is kept, and once the new one is finished, the Attempt buttons take you back to either.
  5. Tap Read the story to open the book the questions came from.

What we suggest

Read it with them, not about them. Ask about a question they got wrong first and right later: explaining how they worked it out is where it sticks. A retake is worth most a few days later, after some practice on the topic, rather than straight away.
