Facts, riddles and quizzes between the pages
The book stops for a real fact about the place, a riddle built from its own words, a silly poem. At the end, questions that show what stuck. You choose which of these appear.
What it is
A book can stop between pages for something other than the story: a real fact about where it is set, a fact from the subject it teaches, a silly poem about what just happened, a quick quiz, a puzzle built from its own words. We write each one from that book's own chapters, in that book's voice.
What it is for
A child who has stopped taking anything in still turns pages. A break asks for something back. The quiz and the puzzle are tapped rather than read, and the facts hang the lesson on the story around it. A child who finds them interrupting can have every one turned off.
How to use it
- Open Kids and tap the child whose books these belong in.
- Scroll to Story Style, below the reading level and depth.
- Tap the ones you want on: Did You Know? Trivia, Fun Facts, Silly Poems, Quick Quiz, Brain Puzzles.
- Tap Save Changes. These are set per child and not per book, so every book made for them from now on follows the switches.
- Turn Workbook on in the same place if you also want questions at the end.
What we suggest
Choose the mix once and leave it alone. A couple switched on gives a break now and then without stopping the story every few pages, and a longer book carries more of each anyway. If they read straight through and resent being stopped, keep the facts and turn the tappable ones off.
