Picks up where they left off
A real two page spread on a wide screen, one page on a phone, and it offers back the page they stopped on.
What it is
The reader a BespokeTales book opens in. On a screen at least 1024 pixels wide it lays out a real two page spread with a page that turns between them. Anything narrower gives one page the whole width, which is what a phone shows, and a tablet held upright too. It remembers where they stopped, and offers that page back the next time the book opens.
What it is for
A book a child abandons on page nine is usually a book that was hard to get back into. Nothing here asks them to remember where they were. The typeface, its size and the colour of the paper are theirs to set as well, so a child who reads better in a big soft font simply reads better.
How to use it
- Tap Read on a book card in Library to open it.
- Turn a page with a folded corner, the arrows in the toolbar, or a swipe on a phone.
- Open Reader Settings to set the theme, the font size, the font and the colour of the words. It holds for the next book too.
- Tap Set bookmark to hold a page they mean to come back to, and Table of Contents to jump to a chapter.
- Tap Last read or the bookmarked Page under Jump back in when the book reopens, or Start Over to go to the first page.
What we suggest
Set it up once, with them, at the size and paper they choose rather than the ones you would. Bright suits a bright room, Dim suits a dark one, and the size that looks far too big to you is usually the right one. It is remembered, so it is theirs after that.
