We keep as little as possible
Only what a book needs. Your child's photo is kept private, is never shown in the book itself, and goes when you delete them.
What it is
A child's profile needs a name and an age. Nothing else is required. School year, interests, a line about them, where you live and a photo are each optional, and a book can be made with none of them. Where there is no photo, we invent a face and draw from that instead.
What it is for
Anything we hold is something we have to look after, and something you have to trust us with. So the form asks for what a story actually uses and leaves the rest alone. A photo has one job, which is to give us a face to draw from. We keep it privately, it is not printed in the book, and it goes when the child goes.
How to use it
- Fill in a name and an age when you add a child, and leave the rest blank if you would rather.
- Skip Upload photo. New Adventure runs to the end without one.
- Press Remove on a child's page to take a photo back out.
- Open Privacy and data, then Your data, to read what is held for each child.
- Read Data retention on that same page for how long a quiet account is kept.
What we suggest
Add an optional field when you want it to show up in a story, not before. Interests and a line about the child change what we write; most of the rest changes very little. If the photo is the part you are unsure about, start without one and add it later.
