Never the same twice

New words and new artwork every book. Nothing is pulled off a shelf.

What it is

Every book is written and drawn from nothing. There is no shelf of ready made stories waiting for a name to be dropped into them, and no stock artwork. The words come from the outline you picked, and each illustration is ordered for the one page it sits on.

What it is for

Personalised usually means a template with a name in it, which is why the second one reads exactly like the first. Here the machinery works against repetition rather than for it. Every chapter is handed a different way to open, and in the Diary Style and Snappy and Fast tellings every page is handed a different beat to land. We also keep a ledger of the images the prose has already spent, so a phrase cannot come back.

How to use it

  1. Tap New Adventure and pick a topic they already have a book about.
  2. Tap Let Bix choose at Genre or Tone, at Writing Style and at Location, so all three are free to move.
  3. Compare the ideas at the Ideas step against the book already on the shelf. A genre read recently is passed over.
  4. Pick the idea that looks least like the one you have.
  5. Keep both in Library and read them one after the other. The difference shows first in the opening lines.

What we suggest

Do not describe the last book in order to get another like it. Everything under this feature is pulling the other way, and you would be fighting it. Cast the same people at the Cast step instead, and leave the genre, the telling and the place open. That is where a second book that still feels new comes from.
