Share it with anyone they love

Grandparents, an aunt overseas, a favourite teacher. A link and a password and they read the whole book, the voice reading it and the pages turning, all of it. No account, and they can change nothing.

What it is

A private link to one finished book, for somebody with no account and nothing to install. They open the link, type the sharing password you told them, and read the whole book as your family does, the narration included. They can change nothing, and they see none of the rest of your shelf.

What it is for

The people who would most like to see it are the ones least likely to install anything. A grandmother reads it on the phone she already has. A teacher sees what a child has been reading without being handed a file that is theirs for ever, because you can stop any link, or all of them, whenever you want.

How to use it

  1. Tap Share private book on the book's card in Library.
  2. Set one sharing password the first time. It covers every book this account shares, so you only ever tell somebody one word.
  3. Send the link however you would send anything, and tell them the password separately. The link says which book; the password says they may read what you share.
  4. Reveal that password again under Private book sharing on the Account page, whenever somebody asks for it.
  5. Tap Stop sharing beside a book in that same place, or Turn off all sharing, to close the links.

What we suggest

Pick a password you can say out loud, because saying it is exactly what you will do with it. One plain word a grandparent can hear down a phone beats anything clever. And if a reader presses the invitation on the last page, signs up and pays for their first book, the credit lands with you.
