A book for a special day

Type the occasion the way you would say it, like Grandpa’s birthday. Grandpa joins the story beside your child, and a note from you goes on the dedication page.

A parent chooses Your Own Idea and types Grandpa’s birthday. The app recognises Grandpa Joe from the family and asks to confirm. Grandpa stars beside Alice and Biscuit, the story is set in Seattle, a dedication is added, and Grandpa Joe’s Secret Birthday Map is ready on the shelf.

How to do it

  1. First make sure Grandpa is in your family. If he is not, open your child’s profile under Kids and choose Add someone. Who is in the book shows how.
  2. Press Start an adventure (on a phone, New Adventure). Choose Your Own Idea, then Your Idea. Type the occasion, like Grandpa’s birthday, and press Check topic.
  3. Bespoke Tales finds Joe in your family and asks you to check. Press Looks right, or Someone else if it picked the wrong person.
  4. On the Cast step Grandpa is already a hero beside your child. Tap any other face to bring them along too.
  5. Choose the scene and the picture style. Grandpa’s hometown makes a good place.
  6. Under A note for, write a few lines for the dedication page (see below). It is optional.
  7. Press Show Story Ideas and pick the one you like. The book appears in your Library when it is ready.

The note on the dedication page

Every book has a dedication page, page 2, naming who the book was made for. Write a note for it on the Look step, in the box under A note for, or add it later from your Library. Write a note on the dedication page shows both, with its own video.
