Picture style

Each book has its own picture style. On the Look step you choose how every picture is drawn, from the cover to the last page.

For a Grade 3 Math book about measuring area, starring Alice, Grandpa, Mom and Biscuit the dog, a parent compares the six picture styles on the Look step, each showing the same scene, picks one and shows the story ideas.

How to do it

  1. Start a new story and go to Look, the fourth step along the top.
  2. Under Art Style, compare the six tiles: Painted Realism, Watercolor, Soft Pastel, Smooth Digital, Bold Cartoon and Action Comic. Every tile shows the same scene, so only the style changes.
  3. Tap the one you like. A tick appears in its corner. Painted Realism is chosen to begin with.
  4. Press Show Story Ideas and pick your favourite idea.
