A school lesson in the story
A Curriculum Journey book is built on one real lesson from school. Your child is the hero, and the lesson runs through the adventure.
How to do it
- Check your child’s profile first. The lessons come from the Grade and Location you set in Kids.
- Press Start an adventure, then choose Curriculum Journey.
- You will see your state’s standards for your child’s grade, sorted by subject. Each bar shows how much of that subject their books have already covered.
- Want a stretch, or a little review? Open the grade menu. You can pick one grade below your child’s grade, or up to three grades above it. Their real grade is marked (Current).
- Open a subject and pick one topic. Not sure? Surprise me from what is not covered picks one they have not had yet.
- Choose who is in the story, then leave the tone, writing style and place to Bix, or pick your own.
- Choose a picture style, then pick one of Bix’s three story ideas. Nothing is spent until you pick one. Picking one uses one book credit, and your book appears in your library while it is made.
Use your own curriculum
Following a tutor’s plan, a home school program or the sheet from school? Upload it, and its topics sit beside your state’s.
- Open Curriculum and scroll down to Your curriculum.
- Drop the file there, or press Browse files. A CSV, PDF, DOCX or TXT file works, and so does a photo of a page.
- You see the topics it found, sorted by subject. Nothing is added until you say so.
- Give it a name, set the grades it covers, and choose a child under Start using it for.
- Press Add (the button says how many topics) to keep it, or Discard to try another file.
