Your first child profile

You fill this in once, and every book after it is written and illustrated just for them.

A parent adds a photo of Alice, types her name, age and town, adds a few words about her and taps the things she loves, checks her reading level and puzzle difficulty, and presses Create Profile. Alice then sits in the hero seat of her story crew.

1. Add a photo

Press Upload photo, or Use camera to take one now (it shows only on a device with a camera). Your child appears in the hero seat, and the pictures in every book are drawn from it. The photo itself never goes into a book. What appears on the page is a drawing.

A photo is recommended, not required. Without one, tell us what they look like in the About box instead.

2. Name, gender and age

Type their name and age. The grade fills itself in from their age; change it if it is wrong. Want to add pronouns? Press + Add pronouns beside Gender.

3. Where you live

Start typing your town and pick it from the list. Your state is what brings in the lessons your child’s own school follows, so pick your city, or just the state.

4. What they love

A few words about who they are (loves rock pools, drawing and her dog Biscuit), and a tap on their favourite things: animals, space, dinosaurs and more.

5. Tune their books

Reading level and Problem-solving depth start matched to their age. You can come back and make them gentler or harder any time: Reading level and extras shows how.

6. Save

Press Create Profile. Your child is now the hero, and the next screen lets you add the other people who can be in the books: brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents, friends and pets.
